Shelly Shu

New England born and raised indie folk artist Shelly Shu uses her melodic sense and thought-provoking lyrics to capture complex emotions and their stories  through song. Shelly blends folk, roots, and rock stylings to explore topics of loss, meaning, and healing. 

A vocalist by training, Shelly first wrote songs based on her favorite musical theater ballads, folk songs, choral arrangements, and CD albums of '90's/'00s female singer-songwriters. She takes inspiration from artists like Joni Mitchell, Sara Bareilles, and Gabrielle Aplin. 

In addition to music, Shelly is also a visual artist that mainly specializes in drawing, watercolor, and collage. Be on the lookout for Shelly in the local Pittsburgh music scene, often playing open mics or gigs at intimate venues.
